The Australian market for intrinsically healthy foods has experienced remarkable growth & consumer interest in recent years. Australians are becoming increasingly health conscious & interested in better for you functional foods as a way of managing health concerns such as weight & high cholesterol. Organic Foods

IBISWorld said Australia's organic industry was valued it at $919 million (as at 2016) and said the sector grew 17 per cent  in the five years since 2011. It predicts the value of the organic industry could be $1.2 billion by 2022. 

Gluten Free Foods

A Nielsen global survey on healthy eating trends released 2015 showed 21 per cent of consumers across the in the Asia-Pacific ate gluten-free diets. In Australia, Coeliac Australia believe 1 in 100 Australians have Coeliac disease but international dietary experts believe approximately 1 in 25 Australians avoid eating wheat related products. According to market researcher Euromonitor International, the gluten free food market was $246 million (as at 2014) & anticipated to reach $437 million by 2019.

Vegan Foods

Data from market researcher Euromonitor International has shown Australia's packaged vegan food market is worth approx $136 million (as at 2015), set to reach $215 million by 2020.

The growing demand for novel & healthy foods makes this an important part of the food & beverage industry in Australia.
